“This photograph is one of my favourites. It was taken by my mum in her back garden in June of 1986. I’d just finished my last day at work in Ipswich and was moving to London that evening. I had just turned 18 and Duncan was 20 - a young couple just starting out in life - Duncan looks so proud. I met Duncan in Kensington Market the year before, he worked there selling clothes and bootleg tapes. Duncan was a very dapper young man and what he wore was incredibly important to him. He had managed to get several original 60’s tonic tone suits and of course, to go with those, several Fred Perrys. He had a Fred Perry for every day of the week ! I remember him going to a works Christmas ‘do’ and he was the only person who turned up dressed in a suit, a Fred Perry, topped off with a cravat and cane. Sadly three years after this photograph was taken Duncan passed away - one of the things he will always be remember for is his great sense of style - never a crooked crease or an item out of place.” - Alison
